The Authors of Pain are in line for a WWE NXT Tag Team Title shot from Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa at the January 28th “Takeover: San Antonio” event during WWE Royal Rumble weekend.
After recently winning the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, manager Paul Ellering indicated at last night’s NXT tapings that The AoP would face the winners of The Revival vs. DIY. That match was taped for late December and saw DIY retain in their rematch from the “Takeover: Toronto” event.
As noted earlier, Bobby Roode earned a shot at NXT Champion Samoa Joe, apparently for Takeover in January. That match may be changed to Roode vs. Shinsuke Nakamura as Nakamura has a title shot this weekend in Osaka, Japan. The AoP vs. DIY could also see a change as TM-61 is scheduled to receive a NXT Tag Team Title shot on December 13th in Sydney, Australia.
No word yet on who NXT Women’s Champion Asuka will face at Takeover but a feud with Ember Moon has been expected. There was no sign of Ember vs. Asuka at last night’s tapings but Asuka was called out by Peyton Royce and Billie Kay. Asuka cut a promo on this week’s NXT episode about how there is no competition left, seen below:
